Art Competition

High School students across NY-19 are invited to submit artwork for this year’s Congressional Art Competition!

Congressman Josh Riley’s office is now accepting submissions for the 2025 Congressional Art Competition. This annual competition is an opportunity for high school students across the district to showcase their artistic talent, with the winning artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year.

The competition is open to all high school students residing in NY-19. Students may submit original, two-dimensional artwork in various mediums, including paintings, drawings, photography, and mixed media.

Review the 2025 Rules for Students and Teachers.
Complete the 2025 Student Release Form.
Art must be dropped off or received via mail by Friday, April 18, 2025.

🎨 Accepted Mediums:

Paintings, drawings, prints, photography, collage, computer-generated art, and mixed media (must be two-dimensional). 

The artwork, including the frame, should not be larger than 26” x 26” x 4” or weigh more than 15 pounds.

πŸ› Winning Artwork: 

The winning artwork of our district's competition will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol alongside all participating districts from around the country. It will also be displayed on House.gov's Congressional Art Competition page.


All entries must be original in concept, design and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws. Any entry that has been copied from an existing photo or image (including a painting, graphic, or advertisement) that was created by someone other than the student is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted. Work entered must be in the original medium (that is, not a scanned reproduction of a painting or drawing).

The rules, checklist, and release form for the competition are scheduled to be posted in early February on House.gov Congressional Art Competition page.
