Congressman Josh Riley (NY-19) has been appointed to the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology.

Josh will be one of only two members of the New York Congressional delegation to serve on the House Agriculture Committee, which has legislative jurisdiction over the U.S. agriculture industry, forestry, nutrition policy, and rural development. NY-19 is home to thousands of small family farms who will now have a voice on the committee.

“Hilarie and I are thrilled to have Josh representing the interests of Upstate New York farmers in his role on the House Agriculture Committee,” said NY-19 farmer Pete Larson, owner and operator of Just a Few Acres Farms. “Strong farms make strong communities, and with Josh’s help, we know agriculture of all types will be well-represented in Washington.”

“Upstate New York’s farms are the backbone of our economy, our communities, and our way of life. I’ve seen firsthand how hard our growers and producers work to feed this country, and I know how big corporate ag monopolies threaten their survival,” said Josh. “Over the next two years, I’ll fight tirelessly to protect family farms, ensure local farmers get their fair share, and break down the barriers that stand between Upstate producers and the success they’ve earned.”

The Committee on Science, Space, and Technology has a broad portfolio that includes research and development, energy and environmental policies, aerospace manufacturing, and technological innovation.  NY-19 is home to several colleges and universities, as well as several aerospace manufacturers.

“I’m honored to have been chosen to serve on the House Science and Technology Committee,” said Josh. “Upstate New York has a proud history of manufacturing and innovation, and I will use my seat on this committee to bring good jobs back home.”
